Emily Dove Gross

Emily is a long time friend from ye olde high school days, and I have to say that her artwork is a major inspiration to me. This painting is from “sleepy animals”, a collection of watercolor paintings of animals chilling on various furniture. Oh how I wish to be doing the same. Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun
But mama, that’s where the fun is

Roots

Filed under: Uncategorized — brillwill @ 7:53 am

my roots are strong and deep/i’m swaying in your breeze
my limbs stretch out to meet you/you’ve got me on my knees
i stand tall/my feet are on the ground
but compared to you i’m small/the things you need you just surround
you rocked around the earth/you circle it with air
you’re trapped inside the core/with hot lava hair
i wish you could sprout, but you can’t stick your neck out
i want you climbing on my limbs, but i’m just stumped by your whims

Un Amico

I’m in love with this song. Tarantino has always had a special knack for combining the right music with the right scenes, and he does so again in his latest film, Inglorious Basterds. When “Un Amico” by Ennio Morricone started playing during the film’s emotional climax, I felt chills.

I’ve decided to revisit this photo set, this time in color. This image in particular is striking to me – the mix of color in the background almost has a musical quality to it.
